workshop & sewing support
Workshops are an important part of the developing vision for eliza j atelier.
I have many years’ experience in teaching, training and running creative sessions, including work with a youth charity in Wales. Previous workshops have included upcycling projects using materials destined for landfill, and beginner sewing sessions helping people build confidence with basic sewing skills.
Future sessions may include one-to-one sewing support, help with using your own sewing machine, beginner-friendly workshops, small group sessions, creative upcycling and practical textile projects.
You may be able to bring your own machine, ask questions about a project, learn how to get started, or build confidence with stitching, cutting, simple repairs, alterations and creative reworking.
A small collection of hand-worked vintage sewing machines, including Singer and Jones machines, will also form part of the workshop story. These older machines reflect the value at the heart of eliza j atelier: making carefully, keeping useful things in use, and appreciating the skill and pleasure of sewing.
The aim is to make sewing feel accessible, useful and enjoyable — whether you are returning to it, starting from the beginning, bringing in a machine you do not yet feel confident using, or looking for help with a particular project.
More details will be added as workshop plans develop.
